A POLITICIAN

 

why is it today

that the word politician

has become a byword

for everything that is wrong in human being

 

For if one

only takes the effort

to break the word

politician

he shall find it means

a group of people

practicing politics

for the nation

 

Why is it

that we no longer confide with them

our hopes and aspiration

our desires our dreams

and talk to them about our collective

dream of a better nation

 

If today the word politician

has become nothing more than a byword

for everything wrong in the human race

it is because far too many

good people remain silent ,

in the shadows

waiting for a messiah for their deliverance

 

This is not only an act of cowardice

but also a betrayal to mother India

It is like watching a victim of a road accident

on the floor

his eyes begging for help

but nonetheless we just move on

 

If people are not willing

to vote , to demand for

good public services,

demand a corruption free India

and take adequate steps to ensure it

then why should the politicians give all this to us

 

nonetheless in the face of public indifference

I dream a India

where the coming of a politician

is not greeted with muttered voices

of insults
